1. Burkes Beach

Burkes Beach is fairly quiet and uncrowded. You’ll find 13 metered parking spots right near the walkway to the beach, but there are other parking spots down the road at Chaplin Community Park. In addition to the Hilton Head public beach, this area has basketball and tennis courts, a dog park, and a playground. You’re allowed to take your furry friend to the beach and run around before 10 a.m. and after 5 p.m. If you want to bring your dog between these hours, they must be on a leash. 2. Coligny Beach

Almost everyone who’s visited Hilton Head loves Coligny Beach. You’ll find there’s plenty of free public parking, and the beach is a short walk from the parking lot. Before you reach the beach, there’s a splash pad that your kids will absolutely love! You’ll also find changing areas just in case you don’t have your bathing suits on already. You’ll also find swings in the park before you reach the boardwalk that leads to the beach. The seashore is wide, and the waterline is relatively flat without any drop offs. 3. Driessen Beach

The locals really love Driessen Beach since it’s not as easy to find as other beach parks. It is rarely crowded, and there’s even a playground for kids to play on before or after you go to the beach. You do have to pay to park at Driessen Beach, but it’s about $0.50 per hour. It has restrooms, showers to get sand off, and a seasonal beach rental if you forgot your chairs. The shoreline is wide for a lot of chairs, umbrellas, and people. Right along the water, it is fairly shallow for wading and splashing around. Lifeguards patrol this beach throughout the day, so you’ll definitely feel safe!

4. Folly Field Beach

Locals also enjoy Folly Field Beach since the parking area is hidden by trees. It is rarely crowded, but you do have to pay a meter to park. Right next to the parking area, you’ll find restrooms, outdoor showers, and seasonal beach rentals. To get to the beachfront, walk across a short boardwalk. The width of the shoreline depends on the tide, but the flat bottom under the water is great for wading, walking, and splashing around. 5. Islanders Beach

Islanders Beach is a great spot for the whole family. You’ll park in a metered parking lot, and next to this area, you’ll find restrooms and a water fountain. Outdoor showers enable you to remove the sand before you head back to the place you’re staying. This is one of the other Hilton Head public beaches that provides wheelchair access with beach matting and a boardwalk.
